A light sensor module detects ambient light levels using a photoresistor (LDR) and provides both digital and analog outputs for automation or measurement applications.OverviewA light sensor module typically uses a Light Dependent Resistor (LDR), also called a photoresistor, which changes its resistance based on the intensity of light falling on it. The more light it receives, the lower its resistance, allowing the module to measure brightness or detect the presence of light . These modules are widely used in automatic lighting, street lamps, solar lamps, garden lighting, and smart home systems .Module ComponentsMost LDR sensor modules include:LDR (Light Dependent Resistor): Detects light intensity.LM393 Comparator: Converts analog signals to digital output.Variable Resistor (Trim Pot): Adjusts sensitivity of light detection.Power LED: Indicates module is powered.Output LED: Indicates digital output state .Pin ConfigurationA typical LDR module has four pins:VCC: Connect to 3.3V–5V power supply.GND: Connect to ground.DO (Digital Output): HIGH when dark, LOW when light. Can trigger devices like relays.AO (Analog Output): Provides a voltage proportional to light intensity, readable by microcontrollers like Arduino .Working PrincipleThe module works on photo-conductivity: as light intensity increases, the LDR's resistance decreases, increasing conductivity. The analog output reflects the light level, while the digital output can be used for simple on/off control.
