OPGW cables are designed to withstand mechanical stresses from wind, ice, and electrical faults without damaging the fibers inside. They often feature stainless steel or aluminum-clad steel tubes protecting the optical fibers, with designs like AlumaCore, HexaCore, or CentraCore to accommodate different fiber counts and environmental conditions . 2. Optical Attached Cable (OPAC) OPAC is installed by attaching the fiber optic cable to an existing host conductor along overhead lines. Attachment methods include wrapping, lashing, or clipping the cable to the host. Wrapped cable systems, such as SkyWrap or GWWOP, are the most common and allow installation using specialized equipment that moves along the conductor.
